keops: thanks. yes I used a reference. this piece is actually for the latest drawing class over at Shane Gline's "Drawing Board" forum. You can see the pic I'm drawing from over there. I'm going to post this piece on that forum when it's done, but the "drawing class" is not really a wip thread. (and now that I notice, neither is this ... I guess this post actually belongs in the WIP 2d / 3d thread. sorry mods.) ...
eunuchbot: thanks for the observation. now that I look at it, I see how it looks sort of funny. in the reference pic her nostril is not apparent, but the shading must be different because it doesn't look wierd.

i'd say the hair needs more definition to seperate it from the head more. i realize it maybe blonde but still.
