Hi !
Here's a Land Raider, well, the main part of a Land Raider.
One day I took my ruler, my LR kit, and started.
Far way not the hardest thing to do, but it was a good rhino's boolean and chamfer benchmark, and a good way for me to try rhino.
I drew most of the shapes under illustrator, then exported in rhino, then exported under max 4.
It is about 400.000 faces, which is too much, moreover without the turrets (the bolter turret is almost done, the laser one isn't even started) and without caterpillars.
I have a few probs with rhino, particularly with the export options, I don't really know what change what...
I also have some problems on certain part, I think there's some incompatibility with certain points created in illustrator and exported i, Rhino.
The exhaust are about 25000 faces each (there's 4), which is way too much, a semi-alpha map would be better... (I wanted to do everything in polys, just too see how it look).
Another problem is that I absolutely have no idea on how too animate caterpillars with max, I know how too do it "roll", but I don't know how to make it speed up and brake...

Wow! your rhino of W40.000 is exelent :rolleyes:
But you are 400000 polys!!:eek: Too much!! :buttrock:
you must optimise your rhino polys if you want to animate it...
And the caterpillars is difficult to animate correctly and I don't know animate this :hmm:

Euh it's not a rhino, it's a Land raider !
Well, 400K polys is big (for such a square model), but not that much, if I make good use of background and render tricks, the poly-count would not be so high I think.
Don't forget that all edges are chamfered, with generate a lot of polys, but anyway I have to decrease the polys number... :annoyed:

You should be able to do that with a WHOLE lot less polys.

Can you make a render without all edges chamfered?

Hum, I first have to re-export all the parts, without chamfer...
So, maybe one day... Or maybe not !;)
