What's mi_texture_vector ? I cannot understand the Docs.

Working with the book "rendering with mental ray", i understand that : mib_texture_vector is a texture coordinate generator, it decide the way a texture to be projected onto a surface (via project parameter).

Is my understanding right ?

Is the return value of mib_texture_vector in the range [-5,5] and why not [0,1] ? (the book say that it return [-5,5], so it must used a texture remap to scale it)
