View Full Version : The Warding Crag
LightWuv 03-21-2006, 12:09 AM Hi all,
First off, thanks for all previous help.
Here's a hastily composited concept test. I've been trying to create a cliffside that conveys age as well as hints of human activity long ago.
Post work in Photoshop and Lightwave 8 (virtual darkroom). Stock photo from Amorphium. Crag made with Vue5i with one procedural terrain and 20 million polygons worth of vegetation.
C&C welcome :)

Excellent! That's a really great terrain. Is it a procedural terrain? Would love to see the function editor screen...

mwalter1, thanks! The terrain is procedural. There's not much to see in the function editor though. The shape is the result of a bitmap in the bump channel and brush strokes in the terrain editor. I've attached images. Couldn't be simpler, but could be a lot better!

That's it!
It looks far better then the simple image map makes it seem? LOL
I love that awesome rendering :)
Did you bend it around or something, cuz it looks like it's in the
shape of a curve, like a well or something like a canyon rutt or whatever?
I'd like to see a screen shot of the object in the the work area, if you can?
Thanx.
Anyway, I sure like it, nice job!

mdunakin, thanks! :)
The landscape looks bent but it isn't. I cropped the rendered image to put focus on the part I found most interesting.
Here is how it looks in the workspace and terrain editor.

Excellent work! So the terrain is then tilted and rotated, right?

Wuvely. The sky fits excellently, mood-wise.

mwalter1, thanks again :)
Yes, the terrain is up on its side.
Raman: Thanks, bro.
