Just finished rigging my first custom character in R8 (simple low poly and haven't animated him yet)

But... I do have to say that expresso and posemixer are really incredible... I just dragged those poses in ... and pow! there was the slider. VERY COOL! I am looking forward to animating now.
I also have to say that I LOVE the fact that changing an objects name doesn't mess anything up since Cinema assigns it it's own name.. it updates the goals and effectors and even expresso tags immediately... nice. Soft Ik and secondary movement...cool.

Just a really fantastic upgrade and am looking forward to a few of the basic bugs getting fixed.

So hows about some simple tips hehe,

Iv had a go at the mime tut ok no problem all working fine problem is, as i never done any CA. im stumped as to why they set the tute up missing the very basics, IE seting up the bones and painting waight maps, having them allready in place dosent help much.

Any shouldnt complain ill figure it out in time. are you going to post any pics?

Mike.

Hey,

The placement of the bones can be a little tricky as well as painting the vertex maps or Bonet maps for sure. I really don't know of any tuts for these things.. I guess just practice :hmm:

I will be posting some stuff fairly soon... eventually the animation will be exported to shockwave and that has been a trial in and of itself.

Mike.

did you want R8 this century? ;-) With all the basics for the dino tail etc, I thought this would have covered it all?

Well, there were some really basic steps left out that are not perfectly obvious from the preceding tutorials, i.e., moving and rotating the bones without screwing everything up. There was a long thread about this on Postforum where Janine filled in the gaps. Try searching for it, Slouchcorp--it'll help.

Thanks adamT ill do that.

Mash dont get me wrong i didnt want to complain, i love v8 have been using it in a production enviroment since the EB, i just thought that for beginners in CA like myself having the first tute half done (bones&waighting) leves out important info that if you dont no leves a gap that is kinda hard to fill for a c.a. noob.

But as with everything pratice will help :-)

Thanks Mike.
