View Full Version : worm hole, vfx texturing
Douglask 12-19-2002, 12:27 AM hey guys, I was wondering if any of you know how to go about doing a time tunnel / worm hole effect and what sort of textures you would use? --blasting through space at the speed of light! Any ideas or pages that you think would help would be great!!
Cheers!

The best method is generally to create the geometry for the wormhole, and then use animated procedurals to create the swirling effect.
What software are you using?? :)

Hello! I'm using maya! I have everything modeled and animated and ready to go, just looking for a method for producing an effect similar to this link http://www.scifi-meshes.com/tutorials/SFA/slipstream.htm except in maya...don't really know my translation from lightwave to maya!
any ideas?

I made a similar effect with max a while back with using the fire effect attached to a cylinder gizmo. I put the camera directly above and increase the perspective.
It might cause a few problems depending on what type of animation your doing, but none the less it looks cool.
