Does somebody know any good tutorials about bone setups for facial animation, especially for low-poly Characters?

Thanks

well it seems sort of a waste of effort to set up facial bones for a low poly character since each bone would control like 4 verts. seems like it would make more sense to use morph targets.

but if you really HAVE to use bones, then i assume you just set them up like you would set up bones in any other case...put the bones where you want bits to move, and then use the skin modifier to make your mesh controlled by the bones.

i'm not sure how well this will work in max though...i've seen some videos of the technique being used in messiah (i think) before, which worked very well, but the bones would expand and contract in length, like real muscles and could, therefore, be placed like real muscles in the face...

max bones can't do this, as far as i know, so you'd have to kinda freestyle it and make up your own structure based on what u want to move etc.

good luck :)

max bones can be stretched.

I agree bones do not fit for a low poly face.
Take a look at this thread might help;)
