it's Gorden Freeman!
No seriously, I'd say robot. It kinde reminded me of that Japansese robot that can walk stairs and play soccer. Suzuki was it?
It could be an alien too but I think I've seen enough cartoon aliens (that are usually not that good, I like the realistic ones alot better, like the Xenomorphs, Zerg or Protos).

I am also totally amazed at the speed of your modeling especially considering you most likely didn't do any conceptual sketching (I am guessing) or else you'd have posted "Hey check out my totally alien-like alien" or "Hey look at my for sure robot!".
Definitely alien-cyborg robot. :)
Looks really cool... can we see the wireframe?

cheers guys, I reckon I'm gonna go with alien on this one as the joints of the arms and legs are are more like clothing than mechanical, probably with some sort of facial mechanical bits, anyway heres a wireframe, it was made out of one box using hypernurbs :)

nice job! are you doing this from a box and extruding and beveling etc ?? when you create the fingers, is it a brand new shape or extruded from the original ? thanx

whole thing is modelled from one box, or rather one side is then mirrored, I started by pulling out the basic shape, arms, legs etc. then added the detail by extruding and bevelling the areas that I wanted

The body is very nice. You certainly should give him a robot head. He'll look great.
Waiting for updates so keep working :)

When you rig this 'robot' (heheh... not alien IMHO) the orange parts will be solid metal (no transforms) ?
Gooodie work.. ;)

Yeah that's a well fit head! :buttrock:
Nothing to crit. Not sure if it needs anything more it looks kind like a cartoon type of guy so everything is OK now.

I love it! Head is perfect*... I was gonna say robot but you've already made the right decision
*Okay, there is one thing: the eyes. Maybe make them a darker green. I'm thinking like a deep glassy look... I dunno
