Don't know where this artefacts are comming from:
(Maya4.0, some area lights, depthmap shadows from what i know, it's not my scene)

That is the random spot bug that was in maya 4.0. I think it had to do with raytracing and layered shaders. 4.01 or 4.02 fixed this bug.
