Hi all, nice to be back in the Maya forum!

So I got a new PC and immediately have a maya problem. When I render an image I get horrible banding (see below)

But if I save the rendered image out the resulting file shows a properly graded image.

Can anyone help? I am using an Nvidia Geforce 6800. I was previously using an ATI radeon on my old PC and it was fine. My laptop with an Nvidia card also renders it fine.

Oh, and its a maya software render at production quality with simple lambert shaders. Everything at default settings.

This is really driving me nuts as I can not simply look at what I am doing as I work.

Thanks in advance,
A

Sometimes if the render view window is not sized properly (larger than the size of your render) you can get some artifacts in the render. Try resizing the render view window and see if that helps. Or you could just click on the 1:1 icon on the top.

Hey, I thought of that and I had tried it but it wasn't that.

And then I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and that seems to have solved it. Duh! Should have tried that first of course.

Thanks for your help anyway!
