Here's a file based on one of Tarons which was supplied to the beta team, I played around with it and came up with this. I'm not happy with the blobbyness and even fade out at the edges of the smoke but it's a starting point.

Wes,

I never used particles in messiah, but thought I'd give a try since they said it had been enhanced. Of course, the realtime feedback is great.

I do not see anything in the docs, or in the blocks themselves, about setting size of the particles themselves. Does there have to be a material or such assigned?

Thanks,
Rick

Select the Particles in the Animate item list and there's a Size and an Age Scale setting on the Random block. Hope this helps :)

Thanks, Wes. Guess when I looked thru the blocks, I must have skimmed...and also not expected size to be in the Random block, but in the main parameters.

Best,
Rick

Wes,

thanks for posting the project file, looks quite good.

I tried myself to create some kind of fire and ended up with a simple, cartoonish kind of fire. Feel free to dissect the attached project file and video (QT Sorensen3).

A test, still impossible for me to get some random 2d orientation on sprites ( face to cam ).

The smoke on the left looks pretty good. Nice and soft edges.
