Hi

here's the dragon i started to work on.
it's doesn't have the classic dragon body - it's more slim and mascular - somthing like the Reign of fire dragons.

tell me what you think.

i don't like the tail, too straight and whatnot... but maybe u planned on changing that... i'm new to all this stuff, i dont even have a 3d program yet lol, but the stuff you guys make is amazing, and i really want to learn... anyone got suggestions on how to go about starting with 3d designing? i'm somewhat experienced with photoshop...

but yea, i like him... tails need some work i think, kinda plain, but other than that nice

the tail is streight bexouse i didn't rig the body yet - i first finish the model, texture it and then start with the rig.i promise that it won't be so streight in the animation :)
i will add some more details to it in the mesh itself but a lot of details will be added with textures.

I like the model except the front legs. They look like hands, they have musculature like hands and the dragins don't have hands, they have four legs. but they use the front legs as hands sometimes.
And I'l be waiting to see the wings

Interesting, but the dragon seems a bit too stiff on the tail (probably just the pose).

Have you started on the head?

It's definitly slim and muscular

tal flint

you feet to me seem to heavy, I'd go for more of a tucked leg (or perhaps only forclaws with a snake back body and wings?).

Maybe a second jaw inside the first, with the forked tongue ?

Keep it up, it's going a great way !

tal flint
01-08-2003, 12:29 PM
what do you mean a second jaw ?

Cemeroon
01-08-2003, 02:16 PM
Something like Giger's Alien: a second row of teeth behind the first.

I think the jaw, or chops, are too straight, do it like the T-Rex from jurasik park.

Great model !

That's really great! :applause:
But I would prefer a rounded tongue with a hollow in the middle. Of course that's my opinion...

Comming along great!

Few suggestions if i may, and these are mild ones, so if you think I'm on crack please - by all means, and i do mean, means - disregard :p. Heheh. Obtuse humour aside, if it were me, and i was a dragon, i would maybe consider haveing my skin membrane for my wings grow out a bit further down my back, a little added support so that they don't rip at the seams. I like the construction near the shoulders though, looks all musculer and, as i like to say, cool.

It just might be me, but the main flight fingers on the wings are also (perhaps) slightly too thin for my taste in sturdy dragon digits, and i would consider strightening out all those flight fingers a tad, and maybe add joints for knuckles as well?

Oh, and the neck maybe a tad thicker at the base? Guess its just considering the wieght of the head vrs length of the neck. if you want a larger, preditory head, and still have a longer neck its gona need to be strong to support all those teeth :).

Other than that, the only other inconsistancy, was the head, um, "style" in relation to the body. It might be me again (and if it is, just throw stones or something. At ME.) but the body seems realistic in comparison to your head, which strikes me as somewhat cartoony. Maybe add some more prominent facial features to represent details in the skull, like ridges under the eyes, or cheek bones, just above the upper jaw line near the back of the mouth. Perhaps some variation in the line of the jaws as well, make them thicker near the base of the head, and stager the thickness in areas so its irregular towards the front.

It is detailed already though, thats for sure, so in the end it might not even matter right? Anyway, some nice modeling skills you have going there. Good luck with the rest of your project.

-Doom

P.S. If you get a chance model a NINJA rideing him! Yay! (preferably one of DOOM.)

thanks for all those suggestions Doomninja.i'll try and see how i can change the wings to match all you said.

as for the head - i was thinking about adding some more detail, but i got stuck without any good ideas.
i didin't like anything that came out.

any suggestions as wild as you like is more than welcome :-)
