Still working on the flames, I will give more detail in a bit, but the problem is that you can't really look at them head on, they apear transparent, :( but they look really cool animated. I will write more about the flames as I get a little further along. THanks,
Brian

here is another angle, slightly less glow and a darker color, I like the lighter color better.
Thanks,

Thanks, I think That I am done tinkering with the fire aspect of that shader, Now I need it to smoke as well. :) I will do that tonight, It looks pretty neat animated, but it takes so long to render, So it may be a while before I get a test avi up, I will try to make one tonight, THanks,
Brian

I really like this, would be great if he? was in a darkened room blasting flames at small little creatures that were running away for their lives, some screaming and singeing and him being illuminated by the flickering orangey light, seeing his manical grin as he takes delight in burning these small defensless creatures.
The design of the mech reminds me of a manga i once read, cant remember the name, really cool stuff and your flames are really well done, cant wait for anim test.

your fire rocks man. the first picture looked you composited flames in the scene. can you post an animation of that if you can.
you know what else would rock, to give it that realisim, you can probably throw some heatwaves by the fire.

CHanged the lighting a bit, and here is a close up. THanks for all of your replies. That would be agreat idea flaming little rodents. lol, but right now I made this Char. last week for a Dec. competition on the site Simplymaya, for a "wicked Christmas" and he is going to be torching a christmas tree, or what was a christmas tree...

Dont forget that there is a blue flame always on to start the fire (see the movie "Aliens 2" to get what i mean) positioned below the main 'tube' ...
Other thing - not everything is fire - some of the gas (the liquid) is still being pumped out of the tube and did not reached the 'blue flame' that tuns this gas on fire..
Hope someone understands that load of crap i just written! hehehehehe... its not that complicated... go watch Aliens and u see.
DEFINITELY, do a tut over that fire, man.. this WIP is great.

Thanks alot. I know what you mean about the blue part of the fire. :D But I am still not sure how I want to approach that. I think that the part of the gas that hasn't cought on fire yet wouldn' t be to hard to do becuase I can just make it particles to. :) Working on an update right now. Thanks for the C&C.
Brian
waaaaa, this thing looks COOL! can you pleease post a bigger pick? my 1920x1200 screens dont want little backgrounds :) hehe...very cool.

I will try and post a bigger pic tomorrow, Takes forever to render. at 640X480, it took 29 min. on a dual 2.2 Xeon machine. :surprised

If u do do a very high definition character like this one,
u must keep up with the flame/fluid effects at the same level
of detail, otherwise IMHO some portfolio reviewers will se this as a flaw.. get my point ?
C, if the char is low def, all u see its "oh.. great fire shader!"
- but your model is a winner and PROPABLY someone will say
"Oh.. i c.. needs more work on the flame..."
Its always like that, ... one work of mine the supervisor found 15 errors 'cause i add too much detail on certain parts.
29 mins on that machine ? hum... something is looping or overcalculated in your network shader...
BTW.. nice equipment! I use a GForce3ti200 on a p41.6... hehe

here is an update, different angle, sitting down and stuff.. THanks for the C & C. So you think the model looks ok? Spent about a week on it. I added alot of little details that are hard to see in these pics, Going to try and get a larger pic for you all.
Oh yeah, The camera angle makes his feet and legs look unproportional, (sorry) Its 17mm instead of the default 35mm. Thanks,
Brian
Maximus Groff:
P.s. Wish it was my equipt. its my work machine ;)
At home, I have a dual 2.0 overclocked to about 2.1-2.2 each athalon w/MP processors, 1.5 gb of ram, and a Gforce4 4600 card.
Here I have ecc ram, Scuzzy hard drives, and a quadro 900, makes my new computer seem slow. But, My computer at home tends to render faster, eventhough the processor speed is slower...
that looks cool but kinda like he's sat on his front porch frying mosquitos???
:)
could do with a close up on the face if poss?

Brian

Tip for that blue part:
Make another emitter for particles that starts earlier and stop before the orange ones and make them with a bleu effect
And for the liquid stuff the same, so you have more emitters.
It's just a idea
Oh shit, you had a second page.
Although, nice work. Like it.

that's sweet, but the flame loks a little too "consistent" further away form the source nozzle, maybe if there was a little more turbulence further away... and larger texture... that first imag looked kinda more like it cos it had that high speed spray flame effect coming out of the nozzle, but then it spread into the billowing kind of flame afterwards... anyhow aside from the flame, that model is really really cool. will he be textured with suitable scortch marks... (hey if he's sitting on his porch there... well... thank goodness robots dont get colds and need to blow their noses, or ever feel the call of nature).

Cool mech! Flames are very nice, though a bit different from a real flamethrower: http://www.watsonsweapons.com/gallery/images/flamethrower.jpg
Try to get the distance between the seperate panels to be equal, and it will look a lot neater (especially on face - legs are ok).
I really like the mouth... very evil
