Hi... I have to animate a jumping title in lw... it was a piece of cake with after effects but now I have difficulty in lightwave graph editor:

I want the title jump in a nice elipse shape, staying more in the air than on the ground... just like a cartoonish rabbit... the curve I get after playing in the graph editor are perfect but the temporal behaviour is totally wrong and there is no way to fix it (no way I can find)...

just watch this image, its explaining everything by itself...

can somebody show me the way to do it?

EDIT: on imageshack, clik again on the image for get it full size...

I am assuming each of those ticks on the line are keyframes. You need to mess with the tension at each key. Remember the bouncing ball anim several years ago. I would use as little key frames as possible. There are also kind of bspline handles below tension as well as others. I don't use them to much so you will need to dig in the manual. Hope this helps.

Edit: Look at this link (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=330254) this looks like the answer for U.

There are all sorts of cool video and written tutorials on the website that many people forget about. There was a thread early this month whee someone was asking why I stopped making videos after 8.0 shipped.

Funny thing is...I never stopped...there are so many to pull from. And the LW user base just keeps making more and more tutorials....I learn stuff from the LW community amost daily.

Glad this one helped!

I started using velocity adjustment a few months ago(after seeing this vid), and it's really improved my animation -- especially camera.

Whenever you get some bumps in the grapoh that you can't seem to get right, go channel by channel with the velocity setting. If you can't get it right with the tension and bias, it's time to adjust the actual positional and rotational values.

the funny things is, I don't think too many LW animators even know about this. I believe it used to be out in the open in the graph editor back in the old days, then got hidden when they changed over to uncollapsed channels.

iiiiiiiish... I was thinking we can animate the speed channel... but nop! damn, im busted!

ok, I did a new animation, getting what I want with bezier curve, but can somebody can tell me how I can animate the 2 handle independently... see picture for a better understanding of what im saying...

I presume there is a way to do this without having to add a second keyframe just after the middle one for break the tangent...

??!
