update: http://www.csupomona.edu/%7Eegkopin/lightwave/Dragondog/side8.jpg
I have just started working on this after I drew it during class. It is supposed to be a very ill treated animal as well as a fierce killer. Having fun with it so far, but as always C&C is welcome!http://www.csupomona.edu/%7Eegkopin/lightwave/side1.jpghttp://www.csupomona.edu/%7Eegkopin/lightwave/top1.jpg

That's a nice start. Try referencing some canine anatomy.

oh, nice this one, but you should work a bit on the head, remember that to make it realistic(not strange looking) you must remember that there is a skull under there, think of the skull and then put on what is needed.

yeah always use reference images, they really help whether you're going for a cartoony or realistic style. i think it looks more cute than fierce & the spine is too straight.
pls post the concept drawings so we could see what you plan to do with this model.

After a week of unable to use computery goodness, I've finally been able to update (however slightly). Along with that is the one drawing I made that I've made this from. I worked on the front legs, and fleshed out the torso and spine a bit.http://www.csupomona.edu/%7Eegkopin/lightwave/top2.jpghttp://www.csupomona.edu/%7Eegkopin/lightwave/front2.jpg

just a couple more changes. I've lengthened the legs and made the tail smaller.http://www.csupomona.edu/%7Eegkopin/side3.jpghttp://www.csupomona.edu/%7Eegkopin/skew3.jpg

It's very cool. If you looking for a correct name for it, I would call it a Drake.
It looks evil enough, but also looks like it could be tamed because it has the dog like look.
:D Pretty awesome

Well I've made alot of small changes in the structure of the head, including trying to make it more ferocious and look more structural. Any help on how i can better improve the model, as well as...how do i make it look angry would be great.
C&C always welcome!

Well I've made a lot more changes to structure and the skin, so hopefully it looks a little bit more starved in a believable way. I've been using pictures of dogs mostly, although that isn't quite the look I'm going for but everything is pretty much skeletally the same, right? I made the head smaller, the neck longer, (hopefully)fixed the direction the ribs are going in, and other various tweaks. I'm kindof at a stand still right now though, so if there is any comments I'd really appreciate it. I know it's not quite right, but I also don't know how. Thanks^_^

Worked a bit more on this. I hope someone has soomething to say>_< I don't want to even try texturing or zbrushing until i'm sure that its good enough, which is totally hard to do since I'm so impatient. So these are the different views plus a wire. I just don't know what to fix anymore!

when I read the topic name, I pictured a dog with wings on it, and some other changes, but your model is pretty cool. But it looks more like a dragon than anything else. But I'm not saying change it or anything. I don't really see anything wrong with it, but hopefully some others can give some insight as well.

This is where i'm at now, guys. I know i haven't updated alot but i haven't had much time.Anyways, the bottom one is the one i zbrushed, and the top one is when i put it into lightwave. i don't know what happened to all the detail though..what do you all think?

Im really liking this one. Im working on something similar myself; a dragon that has a wolfish head. As for the detail, yeah whats going on? I have this problem in maya with my zbrushed mesh, I have to tweak and tweak before I can get all the detail showing up. I get best results with a 32bit displacement map with a bump map for the top level of detail. How is your dislacement set up?

sweet, i love how it looks so frail and oddly cute its kinda like "awww what ya got there little fella.......AAAAAAA OMG ITS TERING OFF MY FACE" very cool, i love to see different creature conepts.the ears seem a little symetrical in the tearing and the anatomy could use a bit of tweaking but this is on the right track to awesome town for sure!:D

Yeah falcon, I was going to say the same thing. cute little guy could probably slice you into bits so small that you could shove them through a screen door.

I've been so busy with classes I've had no time for 3Ding, sadly, so no updates really. Zoology is evil. I've tried different ways of setting it up, including putting the displacement map in the bump channel and making the resolution really high for the displacement map and in LW layout, but I can't get it to come out any clearer really. I tried following a tutorial, but again no real results. I'm wondering, when i put the displacement map into the bump channel, and only there, i get absolutely no change, and I think that may have something to do with it not helping. Is there a special map I have to create for the bump? It reads the tiff for the displacement, but maybe not for the bump? Any help is greatly appreciated!! And thank ya'll for replying.
