Title: Totem_pole
Name: Bogan Zoltan
Country: Hungary
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop
It's interesting to make a sculpture in virtual world! I spent 16 years making objects in real world and aplied gypsum, clay, wood, metal, plastic, stone, and so on... and I used lot of different techniques. But nowadays I can declare there are not much differences between the way of thinking in the virtual and the real world....

I'd like to show the wire because it's important to understand the way of modelling.

No, I like it! Whenever anyone does something that's not a superhero or a busty babe or a monster, I'm thrilled! Nice work.
yes nice presentation! nice carvings too!
By the way, ... It looks like a totem pole made by a fine master jeweller. very intricate. I can see the outlines of the mesh... because it bulges out... and i think it's hard to render it in real life in a real piece of wood...
Hey why don't you make totem poles and make it into a collection... :lightbulb
:banghead: bang my head to that pole man... lol

Thanks! Yes, this statue try to imitate a kind of metal object. I didn't want to decide exactly what kind of material and technique it should be. It has a little mysterious feeling (at least I wanted to).
The render was very quick about 2 minutes because I used default scanline render and three normal lamps. I never use global illumination and special renders if it not necessary.
The grid lines visible because I applied them in the bump, specular and one of a diffuse map mask. I changed the grid lines maps in photoshop a little. I like the surface of this lines, so thats why I used this.
Just for your sake I rendered this with another material, So you can see the attachment!
