does anyone know the modifier or spacewarp that deforms a mesh when it approaches/touches it?
i want to deform the trampolino when the ball bounces on it

a conform compound object will do just fine.

Or, possibly a better idea(or not, no offence TOMMY 3D FREAK)is to use a volume select modifier with a Xform modifier and then a flex modifier.
In fact, if I recall, Max R3 ships with a scene that has it setup. If you are using R4, or R5, look up(in your manuals) the modifiers I have mentioned and play with their settings. This way of doing it will automate your process and even animate the trampoline.

Ok, I just whipped this up. It's a trampoline with simcloth. All sim settings are default, so it may need a little tweaking. But I think it works a treat.

Which version of max are you using? If you've got max 5, just use reactor cloth.

From what "the artist formerly known as scotch" said last week, reactor cloth sucks ass.
