So I had this concept for a story/game/comic... whatever.
I was watching things that are going on in Iraq now, and wondered, what if that type of event were to happen in a place like Los Angeles? and what if the street urban style of LA was translated to a slightly more sci-fi feel?

So i came up with this image that would start everything. The story starts out as the main character is returning to the city because his family wrote a letter to him saying they have been forced to relocate, or mabie some family is suspected of being terrorists and imprisoned, or something.
He is some sort of military, and went on leave and paid a private freighter pilot to give him a ride back home.

So here he is ariving to the city, in the distance you can see patrolling predator ships in the air, theres plumes of smoke rising from random areas. He is holding a hand rail above him and looking out the window. His back is to the camera but you will be able to see the expression on his face in the reflection of the window.

In the forground is his gear and a letter from his family that explains why they need his help. I probably wont make the whole letter legible, but enough to give you the idea of whats going on.

Yes, very nice concept so far. Feels like it could be a concept sketch for the opening cinematic of a new video game. With all the colorful palettes around (I haven't started my color comps yet but I can assure you that I will be "guilty" of the same :) ), it's refreshing to see something nice and muted - and it fits your piece well.

I can't really see the "patrolling predator ships" in this comp, but I look forward to seeing work on them as you progreess. Good luck with it all!

What a sketch! I like the way you suggest the interior of the ship and the general atmosphere of the city. IŽll be watching your progress. Good luck.

this gets right under my skin!! i wanna be that guy!!! :D

really nice toutch with the hand on the rail.. the pose works great for me...

the reflektion in the glass tho... i suspect the white blob in the lower part of the windoe is a representation of where hes face is gonna be.. it seems to me like that is the wrong place.. its not in line with the camera (us)

you prolly know this.. and has corrected it long before i wrote this :P
but just on the off chance that you havent :)

nice work!

trying to find 5 min here and 10 min there to actaualy work on this. these challenges always happen at the most hectic times of my life. LOL.
I took the original sketch and started creating a matte background for the city. I realy dont have that much done, but i plan on working on it when i can.
