Is there any equivelant to the RPF or FLA render output that Max/Combustion uses? In the RPF one can select masked items out of the render file by selecting their object ID, Material ID etc. This greatly helps when doing seperate renders for chrome objects in a scene, and they come pre masked so posting them into the final in Combustion very easy.
Is there anything like that for Maya? I assume one can output specular, diffused, reflection passes, but what about individual nodes or objects so that they would have included the mask needed to fit them into a composition?
If there is not such a thing, is it the normal workflow to try and render things back to front to try to endable seperate rendering treatments of individual objects from within a scene?
Is that something one could handle with render layers?
