Hi

I've made large scene with terrain covered Hair Dept - grass. When i try to hyperNurbs it, Cinema after some time gets a warning "Out of memory":thumbsdow

How can i render it?

Here's the scene without hypernurbs. PLEASE HELP!
Is there another way to do good and large scenes with grass!

TIA
LukasS

Thats a lot of smoothing C4D has to do there with a hypernurbs,so I am not surprised you get an out of memory warning.I also have gotten the same warning for hyper nurbs scenes as well a lights.

Try double clicking your hypernurbs object and set subdivision to 1,if that does not work then you might get away with making an alpha map.

How much memory do you have?

Stu.

Well fors of all this render was done fast but after going to hN it wasn't so good :). I changed subdivision in editor to 0 and left 3 in render.

I have 512 MB ram (DDR 266)
And 3Gb of swap file (cinema uses it all while trying to render that!)
OS: Win98

you know you dont need to have grass al the way into teh background... use a shader with some noise in teh bump (very small noise) and resnel that's teh same colour as teh grass from beyond a set distance and you should be sorted.

You could buy Shave & Haircut....

Well I have S&H 1.1 for Cinema. But i can't do the grass in it :). If you can post some settings i would be glad.
TIA!

I use these settings for creating grass that doesn't have to be smoothed (hairdepartment ofcourse) :
distance: 0.1
length: 0.5
radius: 0.15
sections: 6
gravity: 0.6
lenght var.: 10%
dir. var.: 10%
angle var.: 10%

sidefaces: 4
from: 2
start depth: 1
middle depth: 1
end depth: 1
middle: 6
Start width: 10
middel width: 10
end width: 1

that should do the trick, if your computer still hangs, try to increase the radius.

fake it with alpha textures
