Hi everybody!

I finally had some time to do a little animation and compositing with a frog I modeled long ago in Maya.
Modeling, tracking, animation and rendering with Maya (MentalRay).
Texturing in Photoshop.
Compositing in After Effects and Photoshop.

I hope you like it.

Camera looks amasing, as does the compositing. The jumps look good, and the tounge.
The frog itself looks good, as is the shadowing.

BUT I just don't think of the frog as believable, I personally have only seen frogs rest down on its hind legs. your looks like its on all fours almost. maybe if you had his butt lower to the ground it would look a little more real. (but thats just my opinion) Or maybe its just the angle your camera is at.

all and all i liked it and it looks good.

Thank you for your comment!

You are probably right. The animation is in some ways not frog-like.
I think there are frogs like that, I can remember a frog I saw which had his weight on all four legs, but it was bigger than this frog I tried to animate.
When I modeled the frog I used a sketch I drew and that was more like the bigger frog.
I didn't have any video refernces of a frog and haven't seen a frog for a long time. So I just animated like how I think they would move.
Next time I should try to get some references.

Yeah, i enjoyed it, i especially like the POV effect of the hand held camera.

The only thing that i could suggest was that the shadow could be a bit more diffused when the frog jumps, as it's further away from the ground. And maybe the tongue could have some texture on it when it gets close to the camera.

I actually don't mind the stance, as it make the frog look more determined - maybe i haven't seen enough frogs jump in real life to compare it, but i think it fits with the action.
