Great idea and Good lineart! Maybe if you expand the sketch a bit so you could a long winding road that they have to travel? Then it would portray the journey part a bit better perhaps?

I really like the characters!

Great characters and a great style. I also think you should make the image larger, feels a bit cramped right now.

Hi Mumphy, actually I was thinking to add more characters to fill up the scene...but in some point I think youre correct I should also consider giving the background a little more air.. thanks

hey thats really cute!!
cool render!1

you might want to think about you shadows/shades (background/middle/foregroun) in terms of constant lighting but other than that i think its going quite well :)

hehe cute characters ...the cow reminds of ver old disney animations :D

you probably shade with the burn & dodge tool. It looks like it because you basically just darken or lighten up one color. Introduce a new color to all the shadows ( maybe something blueish) maybe it helps you :)

Also the lemons (or potatos), the duck, the cowbell and the corn all have the same yellow maybe you can try to use different yellow tones for those. hehe dont know maybe that helps a little ..if not ..forget what i said :D :D

Cyberone, thanks for reminding me..Yeah now can see that the scene really looks flat..One of my favorite was your matt painting, gonna find that again and get some inspiration.hehe. thanks sir.

Vahn, thanks for the color advise.. By the way, those things on the back of the farmer were potatoes..

Hi guys, its been a while since I uploaded some WIPs..so far, I have already revised the sky and the background
mountains, adding some fogs and blurring a little bit..For the road, I've drawn some pebbles, make some scattering of small stones and (whew!) some more smudging on the greeneries so to create grasses. Hope to hear some more comments from everyone..thanks..

that's looking like a really nice piece. it's a refreshing change from the type of entries a lot of people are doing. no conflict or tension or impending anything. just a nice day and some friends. well challenged.

as far as a crit, the only thing that gets me is how the horizon line is perfectly in the middle of the frame. maybe if you add a bit more sky on top or ground below it would make the composition feel a bit more natural. it might give a spot for another character if you start feeling like you have too much time left. ;)

cheers,
~B

hey anzibon, thanks for reminding me about the clouds..actually I am trying to reconsider my composition. I just read a very nice article from Philip Straub about constructing effective composition..later I will post my revised scene..Goodluck to your entry too!!

some updates on the positioning of the horizon, and I just also had some revisions on the clouds. here also introduce the two ultimate casts of the show, the lover worms in the potatoes (that was unfortunately being separated by the crow)..I will post some close ups on them next time..cheers everyone!

U may want to do sharper shadows, because of the light sources intensity, that will also help with the mood as well! Cool beans dude!

Make sure the shadows do not make the characters float above the road.

If the corn guy sleeves project such a strong shadow on his arm, there is a shadow missing from the potato guy's hat.

Very lively and innocent.
