Hi there!
I want to get some models from Poser 6 to C4D (MacOSX). Not animations, just models + textures.
Is there a simple way?

Thanks

Interposer.

Use the demo. You can even export the textures.
I use the payed version and with this one you can also load the walkdesigner animations.

Birdy's right. Having bought and tried all the available offerings, InterPoser is the best solution for Poser and DazStudio imports.

If you ever need to bring in all of Posers Morphs and Bones, or create full characters for sale to Poser users, then the Greenbriar plugin suite is the way to go.

(I have both).

Or wait for Interposer Pro :)

Yes - I reccomend you hold off for a while on the Greenbriar stuff! ;)

And how shall I import hair (strands from library in Poser 6) to C4D? Import of hair as trans maps is OK, but what about strands?

The spline hair of Poser 5/6 is doable, but not easy by any stretch. Oh, I could easily recreate the splines described in file but then there is a ton of background stuff going on there (populating, dynamics, styling, gravity, and all of the other physical simulation aspects). You know about the Cinema 4D Hair module - well, Poser hair isn't quite as powerful, but nearly as complex (again, a third-party add on purchased by Curious Labs - just like the Face Room, Cloth Room, and Shader systems). I'm still debating on whether to support Poser hair myself (it will be a later addition to Pro then) or require Cinema 4D Hair and convert between (still after release, but probably implemented sooner).

It's quite a task just to support the basic Poser features in C4D - just finishing up (successfully might I add) the master-slave control system. I don't think people realize how important it is to Poser - at least 90% of the figures tested have had them (valueOps and/or linkParms). It makes a big difference - there will be images at my site to show off the final alpha when the master-slave system has been thoroughly shaken down (Had to contend with circular links after all and some other oddities - mainly with Injection master controls (PBMCC_ type stuff)).

interPoser Pro will be ready for beta very soon - I just wish that it had been realized earlier how significant the master-slaves would be (and that they'd need to be done with my own code instead of XPresso). :)

Hi Kuroyume0161,
thank you very much for your explanation. I think it would be good for me to buy Maxon Hair. Now I realize that my question was about exporting rather than importing. Is any possilbe way how to export hair (created as strands - splines) from Poser to C4D not as splines with physical aspects (gravity etc.) but all hairs as a one textured object (like when I use predefined hair trans maps)? I dont need to animate or modify hair in C4D. I apologize for my poor English. I am newbie in Poser too.

Hi Mayan.t,

That's a good question. As far as I know, you can export 'dynamic' hair with Wavefront OBJ, but the result isn't splines (lines in the OBJ file) but polygons which are not very representative of what you see in Poser. I'll have a look around and see what options are available (as in other export types or plugins for this purpose).

Hi Kuroyume0161, yes, that's exactly it. I can see just strange polygons, not hair. Fortunately, there is many predefined hairs (e.g. for Jessi) that can be exported properly. I dont wan't spend money for Maxon Hair if I have powerful Poser of course. Anyway, thank you very much for looking for solution that would enlarge Poser to Cinema connection in this matter.

If you are looking for user opinions robert/koryume, Id say forget the poser hair.

I've had great success using Cinema's Hair module on imported poser models via interposer and prefer it to the poser strand hair. Hairs built in dynamics also work well in my experience with preanimated poser models. The poly hair converts nicely via IP as well--with transparency maps and all.

Keeping a look out for IP pro...

Regrettably, there is no other export option for Poser dynamic hair. There is a tutorial on how to do this by exporting LWO, but it is for Poser 5 and R8.2 so may not hold up. Segart's Poser Hair to Cinema 4D tutorial (http://segartmedia.mx.tripod.com/tutorial/index.html)

I agree with Joel here. Either you go the transmap/Kozaburo way, or you do it with the Hair module.
Later on, if you choose to do so, you can have a go at dynamic hair, but at the moment I see morphing and posing inside cinema as the ultimate goal.
I'll praise the day I won't have to fire up Poser ever again!
