View Full Version : 6.5 to 7.0 not working

Okay, I have this scene in 6.5 that just doesn't want to open in 7.0. It's annoying the hell out of me. I'm saving the scene as .ma, use mayaFileConverter(which I've used before with great result), and... doesn't work. I get a fatal error everytime I try to open the file and Maya dies.

Please help, this is making me go mad. What else should I try? I've tried everything from optimizing the scene, saving as both ma and mb, clearing any history in the scene, importing the scene to an empty scene. Nothing works. The scene consists of one character with no errors at all on 6.5. I've had numerous scenes just like this converted to 7.0, but this one just doesn't want to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Sometimes I get a fatal error, and other times I get a bunch of this error:

the data object was unable to read its value : (0) no error

Sounds like its a custom plugin thats screwing it up, not anything in maya 6.5 itself.

Hey dbsmith. The scene doesn't need any plugins, I'm sure of that. Also, I just checked and I seem to have the same plugins under both Maya versions. Scripts as well.

Damn it, I hate wasting a whole day on something stupid like this..
