Hi

this is my first post here and its regarding a huge problem.

I cannot load XSI, i tried different demo versions but no luck. I have tried a few thing such as disabling my virus protection software and firewalls, i deleted entries in the registry and tried fresh installs, i reinstalled windows + re formatted drive.

a description of the problem would be that the splash screen loads and thats it, it just stays like that with the program being unresponsive. i read about a few other people having this problem but the help given didnt do much for me

i have a geforce 7800 GTX graphics card with the latest detonator drivers installed. My operating system is Windows XP with service pack 2 integrated.

im pretty much at a loss, its real annoying as i want to get into using this program

any help would be a god send

thanks

The Softimage Helpdesk will be of great help to you!
I had a problem installing my Ess license and had it up and running in 5 minutes after a quick ring to the guy's in Montreal. Real nice and fast.
Cheers

Do you have Quicktime 7 installed? Can you do a quick uninstall and see if that helps.

hi

thanks for the replies. i dont have quicktime installed as windows has just been re installed, i wanted it to be clean to see if other programs were interfering. So i basically got nothing installed except xsi!

its very frustrating, as i mentioned before, i have read about other people who have had problems loading xsi so it seems like a well known issue depending on the system.

I really want to get into modelling, might have to check 3d max out. its annoying as i heard xsi is more accessible for making game content, such as Half Life 2.

thanks

try this:

Open a command prompt:
Start button/Run/cmd.exe

in the dos window that appears type:

netsh firewall reset > enter
netsh winsock reset > enter

reboot the pc.
