I have very limited access to the internet at the moment so here are a couple of milestones in one. I'll explain the thinking below.

So, my concept is the legend of Gilgamesh. Reputedly the first piece of literature in human history with an attributable author. This picture depicts Gilgamesh the demi-god-king, and his beast-man companion Enkidu who was created by a deity to oppose Gilgamesh. The two became best of friends realising that they were the only two people on earth worthy of each others competition.
The point of the story I am drawing is the moment they depart from Gilgamesh's city (obviously the most glorious in the world) to travel to the Cedar forest to kill the demon Humbaba and chop down some trees... The bit you can see is a WIP cropped bit of the two standing in an exit of the city, in the background i will have a mountain surrounded by the 'Cedar forest' (supposedly mt. Lebanon in reality) and a river and all that scenic goodness. I've brought this image from my pc to a mac at my college to upload it and it has come out a bit more saturated than i was working on it, i dont know if thats this mac or my pc but if you're seeing it like that too, you're not supposed to.
Take it away with the glowing praise folks!

only question i have at this point is are you going to show the viewer what it is they're staring at so intently? all in all it's a great start, keep up the good work.

thanks,
~B

PS - consider yourself glowingly praised

Thanks for the glowing praise... They will be looking at their epic journey ahead. The scruffy one, Enkidu, is supposed to have been to this Cedar forest before and knows about the big mean demon, so he looks a bit agitated in a feral-man kind of way. Gilgamesh is supposed to be very arrogant and a little bit of a bastard so he looks forward to the challenge and the glory. there you have it! updates to come...

So, changed ideas. Wanted to do something a little less 'fantasy' and have gone for a picture of a bunch of WWII child evacuees waiting to board the train taking them away from their home city to the relative safety of the countryside. While uploading this I have noticed the lack of time left to me, and my concurrent lack of progress, so i hope i manage to get even something done in time...

Started adding colour. As you may be able to tell...
Also, this picture is my first ever attempt at using Painter instead of PS, so progress is a little slow (probably not the best time to experiment thinking about it)
Oh well, still a long way to go yet...

Hi, great expression on the boy. I like how you feel the motion and movement around the boy. He looks so alone.

Hope you finish in time.
