that reflection of the sun off the water is no good. you are going to need to do something about that. plus there is no atmosphere. add some clouds and atmosphere and show us some updates!!!

I love the lights! cool deal!

Definitely lose the reflection! You might want to grab some reference of the Earth as seen from space. ;)

i dont think he was going for the whole "surface shapes like the earth" but i dunno, im not the guy that textured it.

if anything add some mountins, rivers, lakes, etc...

try looking at some reference pictures whenever you are texturing. The reflection texture on earth is created by waves in the ocean... judging by the size of yours it would make your waves typhoon size.

Good points, all. This was just a test of making a planet from completely procedural textures. In MAX 3. That's it, pretty much.
