this looks great. i'm a big fan of the lantern in the shot. that warm glow around a character always looks great. especially in wide shots. this guy has so much flavor. i love it.
look forward to seeing this one come together,

I like it, the idea is really cool, very surreal. I get a strong feeling off of it maybe it's because of all the weather that's been going on around the world. The rendering of the ocean looks great, I hope you stop hating it.
Good luck.

I don't know it I should consider this the final. Anyways, the guy in the picture is on journey to deliver books to the other end of the ocean to children who need them. His destination is not seen, but 'Adventures are ... steady!'

This is awsome. I really like it. Wonderful work on the ocean. Have you thought of throwing in a hint of something in the background? Maybe a shadow of a city, towers..etc. Just a thought. Awsome.
(hope I didn't post twice...kinda goofed up on writing this)

This is such an interesting, thought provoking work of art . . . and it seems perfect! I can't think of anything substantial that you could add . . . it has a bizarre feeling to it . . . almost helpless but since you kept the size of the waves down it doesn't look dangerour to the point of hopeless but rather a possible adventure . . . perhaps some fish or fowl would take some of the loneliness out but that may ghange the whole feel and may not be what you intended.
Very well done!!!

Hi, all, thanks for comments and suggestions.
I don't feel like adding more living things into it, hehe, I want to leave the adventurer by himself, lol. Let the silence speaks for it.
I love the water in this. Excellent lighting and color. It seems simple, but it works very well, I think this is a great idea.

Gorgeous, the ocean is incredible, and the dramatic sky also.
There's just one small suggestion, it might be my screen (the colors on it are all wacked-up) but i think you should keep the yellow in the sky and the yellow on the character the same hue. Right now the yellow on the character looks very vibrant, and detracts somewhat from the cold desolate mood of the rest of your painting.
beautiful work!

Thank you for telling me, yes, you are right and I have realized it. I did some changes to the hue but I don't think I have too much room to adjust it. Here it is, hehe.

wow, you rendered the water really good and im liking the idea and mood too. ive got some suggestions though. maybe you could add some greens to the water to make it a bit more vibrant and you should add some atmospheric perspective and let the blue fate more to a blue grey towards the horizon.
good luck in finishing :)

It's a lovely piece. The threathening water is great. I wouldn't go out there in a battleship let alone a bike!

Its not looking too good for the cyclist, i've got a strange feeling he might get swept off that walkway!:)
Seriously though, its a simple idea that is executed well, the waves and the lighting make the whole thing look very lifelike, seems like an interesting idea for a childrens story, well done.
