3D CG Artists wanted – All Positions

3+ years experience in a production environment using Maya, mental ray and Maya’s software renderer.
Some positions are open to those with less experience, see below.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a team environment and be open to direction.
All work to be preformed in-house, candidate MUST be local or willing to relocate for contract work.

Modelers/Texture Artists

Experience in:
Cartoon/fantasy modeling.
Efficient poly-modeling for SubD approx in mental ray. (Knowing what details to model
and what details to texture map)
Proper/non-overlapping unwrapping of UV textures.
Building efficient Maya shading networks.
Practical work habits such as; proper node naming, spelling, scene organization.
Basic rigging and scripting skills
Generalized skills encompassing other areas of the production pipeline a plus.
Proficiency in Photoshop.

Would love to see on reel:
Cartoon/fantasy Props, Sets, Cityscapes, Environments.



Texture and Lighting Artists

Experience in:
Painting stylized/illustrated texture maps for fantasy/cartoon environments.
Building and adjusting Maya shading networks for rendering with Maya’s software renderer or mental ray.
Ambient occlusion, sub-surface scattering techniques.
Lighting scenes to create the mood and feelings the Director is wanting to convey.
Efficient use of light rigs and setups to minimize render time.
Using render layers to render scene elements for compositing.
Practical work habits such as; proper node naming, spelling, scene organization.
Proficiency in Photoshop and After Effects.

Would love to see on reel:
Cartoon/fantasy shots that show mostly warm and bright moods with an illustrated/painterly quality (Interiors and exteriors)


Character Animators

Experience in:
Ability to use acting skills, as well as clearly communicate simple ideas with which an audience can empathize.
Bringing life and performance to stylized characters that may or may not have faces, arms or hands. (i.e. Crackers, cookies, blobs, and drops.)
Strong understanding of traditional animation principles.
Some technical skills regarding shelves, referencing and plus.
Practical work habits such as; proper node naming, spelling, scene organization.

Would love to see on reel:
Fun and lively cartoon character animation showing personality.


Effects Animators

Experience in:
Creating believable water effects using Realflow and other creative methods. (Waves, sprays, splats, pools, rivers and more.)
Creating simple crowds and groups using character cycle animation and built in tools. (This is not a ‘Massive’ job.)
Creating and rendering Particle systems.
Basic rigging and rig troubleshooting skills.
Pre-vis camera and sets a plus.
Practical work habits such as; proper node naming, spelling, scene organization.

Would love to see on reel:
Water, liquid, and goo that looks cool. Creative ways you’ve made groups of characters. Magical particle effects.


General TD’s

Experience in:
Troubleshooting problems and providing solutions to maintain a smooth pipeline.
Writing scripts to solve problems, reduce repetitive tasks, and maintain the flow of production
Incorporating scenes from animation, effects and lighting depts. for final rendering.
Set up render layers for various elements to be sent to compositing.
Strong overall skill-set in Maya.
Proficiency in Photoshop and After Effects.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
Practical work habits such as; proper node naming, spelling, scene organization.

Would love to see on reel:
Cartoon/fantasy animation, sample rigs, and creative solutions to technical hurdles.


Animation/Rigging TD’s

Experience in:
Character rigging, weighting, blend shapes, clusters
Working with animators to solve animation problems.
Making character rig animator-proof.
Set up the shots efficiently for the animators to work with.
Writing scripts to solve problems, reduce repetitive tasks, and maintain the flow of production
Pre-vis camera and sets a plus.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
Practical work habits such as; proper node naming, spelling, scene organization.
Working in a team environment, must be open to direction, and able to embrace change.

Would love to see on reel:
Cartoon/fantasy animation, sample rigs, and creative solutions to technical hurdles.


Junior TD’s

Recent graduates and others proficient in Maya, mental ray and Maya’s software renderer
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem-solve.
Proficiency in Photoshop and After Effects.
Practical work habits such as; proper node naming, spelling, scene organization.

Responsibilities include:
Assisting the senior TDs, taking tasks to solve problems and keep the production on schedule.
Modeling fixes and animation tweaks.
Submitting, and monitoring jobs on the render farm to see that all frame are complete and correct.
