First concept for this challenge! Its been such a long time since I last came or posted on cgtalk, months I think. But I heard about this challenge and couldn't resist. I didn't finish or even start a final painting for spectacular, so with this one I am going to go all the way. Going to check some other peoples entries now.. Cheers!

Nice comp so far, Adam. Very nice colors, and the contrasting values are sharp. You could consider shaving some off of that left cliff so that your ship is nicely framed by the lighter area behind it. And at the moment, your ship is really the star of your piece. It took a while to even notice that there was a peron in the shot at all. I hope you'll find some way to make the character stand out a bit more, as the character is often what brings the emotion into a piece. Good luck, and have fun!

Cheers for the input Mike. I tried to bring out the character without changing the entire composition. Going to explore this idea a bit more now, although I would like to eventually end up with something non sci-fi if I can.

Hi there,

Cool colors! I would separate the bgr from fgr a bit more. Haze or something...
Then it's gonna get reaaaaallllyyyy big.

Best regards and big respect

A speed paint that gave me some ideas for this challenge. My next concept will hopefully be closer to what I want as my final piece. Looking at doing more of an open landscape that would be the outside, or the exit to this cave/tunnel.

I'm quite liking where this is going, so i'm going to carry on playing around with the composition a bit more until i'm happy. Not sure about the placement of the teleport thing, or if I should increase the canvas at the top to open it out a bit.

Hi Adam. Great concept sketch and I hope you get to complete this challenge. I missed out finishing the previous 2 so will have to make time to complete this. Good luck and enjoy the process! :wavey:

oh yeah! the one with the map on the bottom of the cave, looks like a realy good potential to tell a full story behind a possible journey.

Really lovely contrast, really what I was aiming for with my entry but have been failing with so far. I really like where this is going and can't wait to see more updates, this is sure to be a good one in the end. Great color and composition choices overall, just lovely work.
