Title: Merman
Name: Teyon Alexander

A charcter I drew then scanned into Photoshop, where I painted it. It was my second attempt at painting an image in Photoshop and is one of my favs.

Nice creature, colors on his skin and the horns too, moody background.

Crits: his right eye seems to be a bit too high though. Also his right hand ( left for the viewer ofcourse), is it holding his tail? If so , it takes away the dimensions of his tail ,make it look too short. If not, it would be better too position that hand just a bit higher, makes the outline more clear and strong. It doesn't help in this case that this all happens in the darker half of the picture. Maybe some scales or other texture on his tail would also make it look a bit less computerised and more in unity with the more drawn-look of his torso and head.
Having said this, it is sure a nice picture and quite good for a first photoshop attempt. Keep at it.

Thanks. Nope, his hand's not holding his tail...it's just in a really bad place. His tail does have scales...though perhaps they aren't as clear all over as the ones in the forefront. Each scale was drawn by hand and then I had to use some fancy layering/effects to get them to shine. I'll be sure to be more aware both of placement and consistency next time. Thanks a bunch!

I think the face and chest might be a hair too blown out, but I like the image a lot.
