View Full Version : Smooth transition between color shades

How digital artists get smooth transition between color shades when they render vehicles or characters in Photoshop? When I put base color and then use airbrush and lighter shades of base color to create highlights, I still can see unevenness and edges of that lighter color over the base color :(
And all images around the Web mabe by professionals have that smooth look to it. What tool should I use and what parameters of that tool should I have to tweak? Where can I look up right technique?

P.S. I use Wacom Graphire 3 tablet.

There are a couple of ways to do it.

Also, using Photoshop CS or above, you can use a special blender tool. Learn how to make it here, and also alot of great tutorials on digital painting:
