View Full Version : Constraining pyrocluster effect
bcbarnes 12-17-2002, 12:22 PM I'm using R8 Thinking Particles combined with Pyrocluster. I've got emitted particles floating up into a tube, and I've set up a PDeflector so that the particles remain inside the tube as they travel up.
Now I want to assign a Pyrocluster material so that I get the look of steam rising up in the tube, but I haven't figured out how to get pyrocluster to not "leak" the steam outside the tube.
Is this possible?

Yep. Check the "Use Intersection" box in the Globals tab.

Hey bcbarnes. Send me the C4D file when you get it working. That's what I've been trying to do!

or try this: assign the volume tracer material to the tube instead of the environment object, this will limit the smoke to the tube.

rgwarren - will do. Just finishing up a test render now.
Janine - Where did you learn this trick? The manual says only that the volume tracer gets assigned to the environment object. Does assigning the volume tracer to an object always limit the effect to the interior of that object? Does this allow multiple volume tracers with different settings to be used in one scene?

Hi,
afaik the trick was discovered by _TQ_ about a year ago. Yes the effect will be limited to the volume of the object and you should be able to use a number of tracers.
Have fun
