i like the function to align the manipulator of the move tool to edges etc, but its slow to always click a few buttons before moving a vertex - is there a way to put this to a shortcut? i havent found the corresponding mel command ...

thanks,

Do you mean holding down the c key, and middle mouse clicking on an edge? That'll snap the vertex along the edge. Not sure if that's what you're looking for.

well, not exactly. - i mean align the move manipulator axis to be parallel to a certain edge. (as the button in move tool settings ) - great for cleaning up edgeloops without deforming the model too much ...

Hold the W key then press LMB and drag far South-West to acces that command.

give a shot to the Local Tools script too, it's much better :)

hey, i wasnt aware of this script, excellent, this solves it!

i know the marking menu you describe, but i think this procedure is still too much hassle - would be better to press a key, select an edge and move the vertex ...

Just to answer the original question:

manipMoveOrient 2; manipMoveContext -edit -mode 6 Move;
