Okay, pretty early in the going, but it's eventually going to be an ugly bug type of deal.

I kind of want to give it some kind of big eyes, but I'm not sure how I should add them. It's not so much of how to actually model the eyes, but rather, what kind of style. Other suggestions for the head would be great too, as well as the back part (abdomen or thorax, I don't remember which it's called)

I'll eventually render it in passes, so I'm more concerned about the modelling right now, but please, if you have any suggestions for lighting and textuing that would be great. (the current lights are temporary)

Nice start!

It has something of the stag beetle about it.. those don't have big eyes really, so maybe you could consider using small mean eyes, instead of big ones..? Just an idea.

Ad for the abdomen.. well, why not go for something really cool and gross - look up ichneumon flies/icnheumon wasps (the inspiration behind "Alien" from what I have been told!). Their abdomen is basically a sheathed injector for squirting eggs into the bodies of paralysed hosts. Or perhaps some sort of stinger (like a wasp or scorpion?) - I've often wondered why insects never evolved that little quirk like the arachnidae did.

Nice tecture too, By the Way.. Maybe you should add some "oily swirls" to it, and some smooth and rough parts to simulate the organic nature of the keratin? Again, just thoughts, but its looking good so far.

Bit of an update. It's more to show the modelling, as the lighting and texturing is really bad right now.

The modeling is good, the surfacing can be better, it seems painted :surprised
