Hello everybody!
Here's an initial sketch for my entry. I'm probably going to change the composition (and maybe concept as well) a few times.

Just so you know -this is a similar concept to another entry i saw on here - but then there are soooo many differences between yours and the other entry -both stylistically, in overall tone, and within the different elements of your image that i cant imagine it could be an issue - after all there are only so many interpretations of "journey begins" - and similarities between concepts are going to arise for pretty much everyone -but just wanted to give you a heads up on that one so you are aware! And i hope i havent made you fret unnecessarily!

-Having said that i think this image is both very original and lovely - it has the overall feel of a fairytale/childrens storybook -were you influenced by the story "east of the sun and west of the moon"? I really hope you will continue with this idea because its magical and also a very strong image. Good luck!

Been a bit busy at work and haven't had a change to work on my entry for a bit. I had a look at it my initial sketch this morning and thought; "that's not going to be much fun to make in 3d", so I've redesigned the characters to make something a bit darker and more stylised (and maybe more fun to model). I'm going to start modelling asap. C&C please if you have any thoughts on what could be improved.

Wow! You have a tremendous range of styles! Theyre both completely diferent - but both completely great! I do see your point about the second one being more fun to model though. So go for it as soon as possible because (entirely selfishly) I cant wait to see more!
