NCSoft is seeking a highly experienced Technical Artist to join its seasoned team of industry professionals led by key contributors of award winning massively multiplayer games. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly creative environment at NCsoft’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.
The technical artist will serve as the liaison between artists and technologists. Must understand the relationship between art creation and the technical considerations involved, be able to demonstrate the best techniques for creating art that pushes the boundaries of existing and future hardware, and be able to demonstrate methods for generating art appropriate for a production environment.
Tasks will include; identifying problems within the pipeline, optimizing work flow for artists and developing tools, (with programmers) to enhance production. In addition to these responsibilities as a technical artist, the individual must demonstrate an ability to provide direction for small projects and posses sufficient mentoring skills.
Requirements:
Five or more years of experience in computer generated art with a demonstrable specialty in the technical aspects of game art development required.
outstanding verbal and written communication skills, responsibility, persistence, flexibility, and creativity.
In-depth understanding of techniques to create compelling, polygonal game models.
Four or more years of experience with scripting, (MaxScript, Mel etc) programming or another equivalent scripting environment.
In-depth understanding of the content creation pipeline for AAA quality game
