I was wondering how alot of you pros get such sharp detail on the MeshSmooth models, ive been able to attain a certain amount of detail on my models by bunching verts together but that gets really messy and hard to deal with, is there anything u guys do diffrently!?!?!

Nup, it's pretty much using creases like you're doing. You can mess around with the smoothness controls in meshsmooth to get hard edges, but it's easier to control it with your own creases.

How are you doing them?

You can do it with smoothing groups. Check the "separate by: smoothing groups" button in the meshsmooth modifier.

In most instances, I'd also say using smoothing groups is far more prefereable than the 'chamfer edges' option. Take a while to get usable with though. Also you can use seperate by materials in the mesh smooth modifier. :)

I didn't know about those two optionns (Chamfering and Smooth Groups) My method was to manually bunch vertices together so it would maintain a sharp edge when i smoothted it.
Thanx alot again guys :)

yes, use the chamfer

using the crease weight in the meshsmooth controls is cool, but has a drawback: its a specific to max tool.

if you create sharp edges by using geometry [eg, chamfer] you'll be better off.

imagine that youre creating a model that shuld be able to go into any subdiv package and look great.
