To learn 3D, I've undertaken the task of modeling my own car. I have no formal training, and the vast majority of the reference is from memory, or internet jpegs.

I used a procedural bump map to create the refraction pattern of the glass. I learned the technique from CGTalk, off of an awesome Mopar WIP. The artist used a similar technique on his headlights. I'd love to give credit (and get more advice for tweaking my taillights), if I could only find out who did the Mopar. I think it was a Charger, and the artist did an orange paint scheme, and a police cruiser.
In any event, I'm pretty green, and I'm looking for new places to go, and new techniques to learn with it. Critiques are most welcome, as is any advice on where to go next (or what to go back to). :D
