This was an image I started for a final for one of my classes, but it might also work for this contest too. The class project was to have 3 or more characters in a piece, I'm actually thinking about changing the inital picture to incorporate guitars instead of swords. Guitar Knights...Just a thought but I might not do this. Might go with something alittle disney'er. What do you think?

The sketch is fantastic. Love your way of drawing, but I don't see where to find the concept of the journey. Maybe when you add some colors. Nevertheless the quality of the sketch is obvious so I think the final image will be great too. I'm not sure about the guitars.
Good luck to you.

Goodpoint, I think i'm just using my classwork as an excuse to get myself started in this contest because I cant seem to think of anything. The thought process is the most important part.

Ramitxon
03-09-2006, 10:51 PM
But you thought about it. There's nothing wrong about using old concepts and adapting them to new rules. Of course the thought process is important, every step that take yourself to your final goal is well made. Keep it up. Iīm impatient to see more updates.

Hey Corey, love the beautiful line work. But i do agree with Ramitxon in that i dont see where the journey concept comes into play. I think the composition still needs to be reworked in order to incorporate the theme. anyway, hope to see more progress from you.

ok, heres the idea I'm probabaly going to stick with it. A girl escaping with her robot friend, from a robot factory. Just quick concepts of characters

Here are some of my quick composition thumbnails. I'm pretty sure I'm going to work off this concept. Pretty much, the robot was differnt from the other bots, he's good. But he wasnt always that way. The girl herself changed the robot, in an attempt to stop her fathers evil plans. The girl helped the robot, and detonated a bomb in the robot factory to destory them and stop them from global control. I'll probabaly go deeper into the story once the image is done.

I LOVE how this palette is so different from your usual stuff. It's a nice change. Everything looks great, but the lighting on the robot and the girl (as gorgeous as it is) reads kind of oddly to me.It might be because I don't know where the light source is coming from (spotlight? helicopter? UFO?). Looks very heroic, though. :-)

04-16-2006, 12:44 AM
I really like the girl (she could be related to the one in my picture! :D ) and this is such a cute picture! I think you should make where they're going a bit more interesting, as everything points towards it.

I'd like to see it flipped. Also, the bunny's head looks rather awkward in relation to the body. Too small and not really centered properly?

BEAUTIFUL COLORS though and great concept!

CoreyArtE
04-17-2006, 04:31 AM
Thx for commenting paperclip, I agree with a lot of what you said, mainly the background issue. I was thinking of haveing that long cone in the background as a giant carrot tower. We'll see, thanks again every word helps.

this is cute. give a sunny feeling to the viewer... :bounce: I think the shoulders on the rabbit are a bit broad... and I would like to see a definition to the backlegs...

I like this a lot :)

CoreyArtE
04-17-2006, 04:50 AM
Hmm I keep geting comments about the shoulder. Its hard for me to see it as being off, but i'll attempt to make it smaller perhaps? As for the leg, I'll probabaly show more of the leg muscle, i see your point. Thanks a lot for the feedback my friend, it helps!

I have nothing to add in the way of critique on this that hasn't been said already, I really like the carrot tower idea :) I love the bright and cheery feel of the picture, the girl is so cute and this looks like something I would've dreamed of doing as a child haha. The mood is well captured, the colors are beautiful, and I can't wait to see this one progress! Good Luck.

hey there Corey, this is a great lovely piece! The colour palette that you chose here suits it very well! So far I have nothing to crit other than what other people say. I'm also wondering how the Carrot Tower will turn out! Make it unusual in some way, not just a very large vegetable! :D How about Carrot city? Carrot Heaven? Carrot Paradise?

The girl is rendered beautifully! All the best with your work!

CoreyArtE
04-17-2006, 12:40 PM
ramy badie: Thanks a lot, glad you like the color scheme thus far, its very likely to change as a i progress. You would have dreamt a scene like this as a child ? HAHA, i would have dreamt of robot ninja's surrounding me with katana's or something, ahhhh the beauty of youth.

jeromoo: Carot city! Not a bad idea! Now you got me excited about what to do with the background! Ha,ha, but thanks for the comentary my friend, it inspires one to go on.

This just reeks of cuteness all over! What adorable eyes on those characters! Actually, I think there's really nothing wrong with the rabbit's shoulder, however, his arm joint where it bends to hold the bag looks funny (I assume this part to be incomplete yet, but I point this out just in case). Cool, I hope to see Carrot City soon!!!

interssant picture and concept. I would just say the little girl seems a little too realistic in comparison of the rest of the picture.

Hi Corey

I really like your choice of colors, and the way they interact with the characters. Canīt figure out if it is sunrise or sunset (maybe evening because of the soft egde of the light), but the way the light falls on the bunny is really nice.

Looking forward to see this one finished. Cool painting.

MichaelZHsee (http://member.php?u=183795) : Yeah I'm trying to update more, been so busy, but I'm going to stick it through. Thanks for the encouragement!

jeromoo (http://member.php?u=39578) : Thanks jeromoo, you know...actually I'm thinking about making CARROT CASTLE, OR A BIG CARROT SHIP. I should have worked that out in the beginning because now I am unsure! Still working on character, but more so the background than characters right now. Once again, thanks for the reply!

authentic (http://member.php?u=73887) : Really? I dont think the girls looks very realistic at all yet. But actually that might kinda work for my theme. Thanks a lot! Gave me an idea.

Jose-Pardo (http://member.php?u=105758) : Hey JOSE! How's it going man! Yeah I wish I had more time to work on her! Gotta rush it now with 15 days left! O_O

berggreen (http://member.php?u=213392) : I'm sorta leaning towards sun rise. I'm hoping it looks more like that when i'm done, and render the birds out some more. Thank you for your comment, it means a lot !

ramy badie (http://member.php?u=213905): WOW! You really think so!?! I've never heard that before! OK, its official I gotta finish this now. That just gave me a power boost! I also feel the same for your piece!

ALL: Thank you so much everyone for your support; seriously. At the start I didnt get much feedback, but now I know some people think my idea is feasible. I cant say thankyou enough. There's 15 days left, lets all do our best, goodluck !

The face in the top of the clouds on the top left. Good or bad???

May-lea
05-27-2006, 09:34 PM
Hey, I don't know, both look good. I do like to find hidden details in pictures myself. It's like a wink to the viewer. Now if you intend to have a solid story behind this pic could it be something that would go along with the storyline or not. Or maybe you could let it in, but lighten the features a bit to make them less obvious.

Or you coule have the face looking in the direction of the two characters, to link them. Otherwise it's cool but I think it's always better if all the elements of a picture are linked somehow...

I don't think that helped you much, sorry about that, but oh well at leas I tried!

Good luck for the final line :)

First of all I'd just like to thank GOD for allowing me to even get this far, let alone learn to draw. And thank you.. each and everyone one of you. Those who responded, heck...those who even took the time to look at my peace. Although personally I am unpleased with the picture, I learned a few new things, and had some fun in the process. In the end that's whats it's truelly all about... Let's keep drawing and raising the standard.
Thanks for the good times.
