Hey guys and gails, I'm writing a paper on how traditional/figure sculpture can really help 3d modelers increase their skills by understanding form and volume...etc. I'd like to hear reasons you might have that makes figure sculpture important for 3d modelers. Some of you might have come from a sculpture backgrounds originally. I believe getting feedback from multiple people, either professionals or aspiring cg artist would only make my paper stronger.

This semester at AAU I'm taking a figure sculpture class and Its freaking amazing. I stand for 6 hours each friday session engrossed on my sculpture.:arteest: We build a model from clay 1/3 the size of a life model (with an armiture of course) in the center of the room. The class only feels like an hour long. The instructor is awesome, its my favorite class by far this semester. The class has a session on saturday I find myself going to aswell. I'm a 3d modeling/texture major, and this class has really helped my understanding of anatomy/form/etc.

I'd really like to hear from all of your perspectives or experiences on this topic.

Thanks again ;)

Who is your instructor?

That's cool that you're getting a lot out of it.

I have to say taking an anatomy class helped me more than taking a figure modeling class, I'm not good at working in clay, but that's just me...
