Hey guys, I'm building a stove top from polys and I want to figure out a way to round out the center part. I'm trying to work with the curve in the photo but can't figure out a way to do it. Can this be done or should i use another method?

You can loft several curves together as polys. But a poly object usually ends up better managed if you just build it as you started to, from a box. It takes more practice this way, but the result is cleaner and lighter geometry wise. I would suggest nurbs modeling if you are going to be fairly close to the object, but that's just a personal thing. You can build it out of polys quite easily.

I tried to loft the entire thing from a series of curves, but it wasn't working. I thought that was because of the parameterization of the curves, so I tried rebuilding them, but couldn't get the rectangular curves (with 4 spans) to match up with the rounded curves (with 24 spans) without the curves losing their shape. I would be glad to use NURBS if I could think of a good way, but the polys just seemed to fit better with this object. What method would you suggest using NURBS?

From looking at your object it looks like you bevelled the edges after you modeled some of the interior. Usually when modelling you want to work out a basic shape before working on details, like the interior of the object. You might want to consider starting over and beveling the edges into the shape you want as one of the first things you do.

actually i bevelled the edges first (but not because i was thinking that would work better--it just worked out that way!) :)
