This is my 3rd sketch out of a few ideas in my head.
It a quick sketch in photoshop in a few minutes. Going to work on this idea and expand the visual from here.
I won't talk about the story yet. I'll leave the imaginations to the audience.
cheers.

Nice strong idea !
snow, cold, and fire ! I like that a lot.
Fire always appears to be better in cold place, and you choose just the opposite. It's very challenging !
Is little girl in traditionnal clothes ?
Good luck ! :p

I've found out that my previous sketch isn't really that good. I was shocked when I found out how many other artist are also doing "foreground - girl, back ground - smoke/fire" type of composition.
In order to avoid from being un-original. I've spend a few days to come out with another concept.
The story is about a journey of a woman on the way to year end sale. Husband cried out in agony.
Cheers.

I like the humouristic twist you put on this and I know what you mean in struggling to keep it original...having a tough time deciding if what I decided to do is really worthwhile, but I'm still sticking to it 'cause it's something I just have to see. These character that you drew have a nice essence so I'd like it if you could remain true to it. And nothing wrong with any of these scetches. good one.

haha....
I'm glad that I don't have to go thru a 6 hours shopping spree. Most I've got thru was a 4 hours window shopping with my gf.

Thx for your encouragements. I'll stay true to the sketch i did like u said.
Well... so far some of my friends prefer the snow girl instead of the shopping lady. But I choose to work on the shopping lady idea instead because of I wanted to do a visual which can put a grin to most people.
Thanks for everybody's support. I'll try my best finish it on time.
Cheers.

Hey this is some nice modeling so far, really good job!
Keep it up!
I like the shopping girl idea. It's makes me feel in the same situation on the man side. I hope it'll finish soon. I defently will show it my girlfriend. And malaysia had a few big sales a year.
http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/10827/10827_1143006474_medium.jpg (http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/10827/10827_1143006474_large.jpg)
I've been thinking over and over again. judging from the responds from friends. Most of them have stronger feelings on the snow girl image while the shopping concept just seem too commercialised.
So i've decided to extend the view on the snow girl to experiment on the possibility for the image to be more interesting.
Here's the link for highres version (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d86/kfc79/journey_v2.jpg)
I like the contrasting elements. I would make the forest very "dark".

I agree with your friends. Sometimes simple is better. The thought of a "unique" composition or idea is an illusion anyway. Human beings are a hive mind in my opinion. Nice sketch. Your modeling looks like it's top notch as well. I look forward to your progress! :D

Yeah... my friend's gf gave me the idea though. She always insist my friend to go along with her on most of the carnival sales. And most of the time burnt holes in his wallet....

It was originally very dark. But half way thru i thought i should reveals a little more details in the darkness... reason is i don't intend to make it a dangerious trip (dark and evil). But sometimes dark doesn't necessary means evil. So I'd say it might has some positive side for the path that she's going to take.
The bg behind her is a town under fire. which can represent that she's leaving the disasterious place for good. The way I see it is, it can represent many possibilities. She can be leaving it because the town was under attack and she's the sole survivor.
Or she killed all the people of the whole town and she's leaving it because she got nothing left to kill (enjoy).
and I can even add a field of died rabbits on the snow... to represents that she's a cursed girl being banished by her town folks and every steps she takes thus a rabbit dies.
haha... I'm still brain storming. but i'll try to pin down on this one.

thanks for ur opinion. I do feel that shopping girl isn't working so well when most of the audience can't seem to get the idea of the purpose of the image at 1st glance. it maybe unique in the 3d forum but out there. it's simply a normal commercial illustration to general audience.

Yeah, I'm also glad you went for the snow...The image is getting along really well. And your 3D work is impressive. You got a strong stylization going and I like it.
More?
centurionit : Thanks for agreeing on my idea. I always wanted to try to make a snowing scene.
asbassie : :D glad that u dig the stylised look of my character. More will come but today i'm really tired because of the pressure from work. I've took a half day leave and slept for whole day at home. I'll try to continue by tomorrow.

Hmm...I guess I'm the only one that prefers the first concept with the shopping girl.
Still, the modeling is coming along nicely and wish you the best of luck with whichever concept you decide to go with. :)

Work in progress for tree house.
Currently i'm in the progress to blocking out the basic shape of the tree house. I'll add the details on the later pass of the modeling progress.
Nomad , coochaki : Thanks guys. :D i'll be happy to check u guys out later. good luck to all of u.
Jedi-Juice : glad that u like the shopping girl idea. I'd hope i can go for that but I've to put it a side for the moment because majority of the audience seems to moved more for serious mood instead of going for sense of humor. I might take part in 2d (shopping girl in category) if i manage to get the 3d done on time.

MichaelZHsee : Thanks for dropping by. I also hope i can do well on the hair. currently I'm having a hard time painting the strands of hair. hahaha....
Jonason : Thanks Jonason. I'm glad that u support that idea. I'm trying to turn it in to 3d as faithful as possible.
centurionit : Thanks for digging the look. I'm trying to achieve an anime look with the character i'm working on. I've got most of the reference from japanese anime models. Let's hope i can translate it well in to cg.
DimitrisLiatsos : I hope it sweet enough to melt ur heart. :D
Womgoose : thanks again for ur comment.
mdavid : ;) thanks. I never really knew that many ppl dig the expressions. From the moment when my friends asking me 'why does the girl looks so sad?' I immediately decided to go for this sketch. atleast i know this look carries an emotion which works for most audience.
frozenspell : sure hafeez. I'll give show u how to do it once I've got rid of the work in hand.
Vincent1 : Glad to see u here too. Yeah it's true that not much malaysian artist in cgtalk lately. must be bz with butter and bread.
