Joey is a little hamster, always living in his small cage, as long as he can remember.
but he believes, that one day he can run away from this live to be able to discover the unknown outside.
Now this day has come and a fantastic journey will begin...

@ funkymunkey90: i think he just want to feel free. :p imo he will escape with a selfmade catapult or something like that, i donŽt know in the moment. may his owner andy will stick him in a catapult and then he will shot him in the sky.;)
@ Raul Tabajara: first i want to develop the char, before i can think of a scenery. i have something in my mind... but i will post it later. :rolleyes: ;)
i think before, i have to model a lot of stuff which is in his cage.
@rasamaya: yes, i will model the feets seperatly and then i will conect it with the body. i still searching for references... :)

really love those feets... :) reminds me of a hamster I had, named Gollum. she looked like that when she fall of the cage roof... and she always landed on her back...

Is it me or does this competition have a much higher amount of stylisation to the entries, less realism? I think it's great, I'm bored of realism in CGI anyways! ;)

The hamster is great! His face has so much character. I don't have any crits, I love the shape and it doesn't need detail. So...keep it up!

I'm with you there, realism is more of a technical issue, style isn't. And this guy has loads of style.

Hey man ! nice sketch, there is something in ur drawing that u forget or didn't model it yet. It's his little naive eyes that he have on the sketch. He seem a little bit idiot but with lot of courage and i luv that.

just add some glasses and made a basic rigging to break the symmetry.
This guy is very cool, loads of character! Will we see the scenery behind and will it tell the story? I can imaging a cage behind with bent bars or something.. Any ideas yet??

I still don't know what this poor hamster is going to live, but he is very cute.
WIth this kind of fur, he is looking a little bit older than naked. Is it what you wanted ? Or may be it's due to 'not enough hair' syndrome.... :p

as i wrote, i will work on the the fur. there have to be more hair on the nose and there will be some thin hair on the hands and the feets.
iŽam using cinema with the new hair modul...
next i will model some interior stuff. like the cage and the room he is living in. :-)

Maybe the skin shader is not enough....er... fleshy. I mean it has a little plastic aspect.

just a little update. hair looks good now, but i have still some problems at the nose and the eye area.
i have done a little bump painting on the nose and the lips. the hands and the feets still need some work... ;-)

i just have played with the hair parameters and have done some work on the skin...
Fur looks better now mate, although still needs to be a little denser, you can see skin though it a bit too much I think. Also is he falling? Like skydiving? If so I think bending the whiskers up due to air resistance would show speed and make for a more dynamic image. nit picking though dude, it's a truly excellent model.

His fur is really cool and the materials on the teeth and around the mouth are outstanding!
Maybe just one crit on his feet, are you shure that thay have thumb like toe. I think that you should remove it. So it will look more like a foot. I could be wrong thou, check it up!

i was working an some elements that i want to add to my image. i decided to make a little rocket on joeys back. in the background you will see his owner andy bounded. :eek:
