This is my first challenge and I'm looking forward to participating. My idea is to depict a sci-fi movie poster for a movie about an international space race contest to find and return the first extraterrestrial life from Enceladus in the year 2110. With Saturn in the background, a machine designed to latch onto the surface ice and bury a sample extracting probe will be depicted on the Enceladus surface. Also depicted will be two astronauts one as if trying to pull the other back and the other reaching out to the camera with an exposed hand that appears to be filled with a micro cosmos or something representing the symbiotic joining with the discovered alien life, which may itself also be depicted. Additionally, maybe some sign of the fighting that breaks out between participants vying to win the big prize.
That's where I'm at with the concept. I'm currently taking a beginner drawing class at SVA, but as you can see from these two concept drawing I've done so far, I'm not very good at it yet. I'm going to try to do some better drawings that better refine the idea on paper, as I think that's an important thing for me to learn to do.
The Enceladus lander spacecraft would come from a current WIP (shown below) that, along with the recent discovery of water on Enceladus, was a major contributor to the inspiration for this idea. I hope that's ok since I would consider it not to be the main character. The main characters will be the two astronauts, which I'll model from scratch, the lander, the moon Enceladus, Saturn, and space. I think maybe I can even work in a lens flare in there somewhere because what sci-fi movie poster would be complete without one? :) I'm debating whether or not to include title graphics, the phase The Journey Begins, and fake credits like a real movie poster.

Trying to get an idea of how the outstretched hand will look.

Outline of the lander model.
Hmm, having reread the entry instructions, I see I'm going to have to rethink this whole thing.
