"Foster City (CA) - In an interview with Variety magazine, Sony (http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/03/08/sony_ceo_confirms_ps3_delay/#) CEO Sir Howard Stringer confirmed reports (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117939258?categoryid=18&cs=1&s=h&p=0) that his company's PlayStation 3 will be delayed, from a scheduled spring premiere to an undisclosed period "in time for the holidays." Sony's new PlayStation 3 was widely expected to be introduced this spring, but will be delayed as the company fine-tunes the chips that are crucial to the success of the console's Blu-ray function."

I can't believe they're going to delay PS3, solely because they're waiting for Blu-Ray.

Blu-Ray will become an albatross (http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.pperl?date=19971104) around Sony's neck.

Beside its been posted already: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=325649

Blu-Ray specs are lock and done, its not the reason.

In other news, the sky is falling :D

Hmmm....I wonder if the truth is actually hidden. What are the slated blue chip games that are supposed to ship at release time? I wonder if one of those games are actually lagging behind.

IMO if SONY doesnt deliver at least two quality games that will help sell the next level of the franchise then it's a bust. Why ship this "rock" in the spring when your hottest game wont be ready until xmas.
