The basic idea is the robotic adventurers will be standing on a platform making final preparations just before leaving to find more power. The background will be a vast electronics style cityscape all the way to the horizon.

Got a clearer and more simplified concept sketch here. Not much in detail. Still a basic layout.

Want to keep the platform simple, but keeping the obelisk so it is very apparent that there is a very low energy level.

Keeping the platform a simple layout, so that the characters can have more emphasis in the final picture.

Finally got a few things taken care of so I can concentrate more on this challenge. I hope to be more consistant with progress updates now. Currently experimenting with basic ideas for textureing the platform basically so it has enough but not too much detail to draw away from the characters that will be on it. Hopefully, I will have the character rough sketches done this weekend too.
