what kind of pc specifications the animator should have?

OS, RAM, HD, VGA card,...

personal character animation trials, alot of testing (playback), high quality models sometimes, most importantly fast interactive viewport update, using 3ds max 7,

for rendering no problem I can render the animation during my sleeps,

please help

For me, the most important is my RAM and graphics card. Nice monitors help too as we gotta look at the screen for so long!

My home spec:
P4 3.6ghz with hyperthreading
2GB DDR RAM 400
Nvidia Quadro 1300 128mb

Business Laptop:
AMD Athlon FX-60
2GB DDR RAM 400
Nvidia Quadro Go 1400 256mb

Both those systems run all the software I need, and still have a bit to go! :) They aren't top spec by any means, but they do a brilliant job for animation and rigging. (The one's I use at work are worse!)

Cheers

I'd say Stu has hit the highest priority for an animator. My interaction in Maya made a HUGE jump in quality when I upgraded to 2GB RAM. And of course, a nice video card to also help get the info to your monitor(which I still need to upgrade on my comp).
