Yeeeehaaaa! or something to that effect, I'm actually South-African, so ... I like the fact that it actually ties in nicely with the style of your drawing and fleshed out like that it could have much more character in colour. It looks kinda like that horse could use something to eat...
Nice modeling.

texturing horse Part one, the diffuse map was painted with photoshop, bmp and specular maps are also painted with the same method, i tried the hairfx for hair and tail while mental ray doesnt support hairs i prefered to use textured geometry.

starting scene, the palm tree: i used a small cylinder where i convert it to editable poly and edit it to look like (what we call in our language Korbah) then i array it to top and then to around to make the caudex, the top part is nothing special only an edited cylinder.

The frond: the stick is a cylinder edited with editable poly and leaves are editable patches started with a normal quad patch then editited to the shape then bended, tapered, skewed and grouped later to seperated groups each contains about 5 or less leaves for making lot of seperate shapes later, next will be duplicated to final model.

Hi Friends, it has been days since my last post, here is my final composition.
actually the scene is starting to take all my CPU and RAM processing, where i couldn't render a single 1200X750 image to test all my work.
the whole composition is too big for my machine, so if you suggest any other ways to do it -render solution- please i will be thankfull to know.
good luck.

05-19-2006, 02:55 PM
that's a bummer your machine can't cope..the scene doesn't look that huge-surely there's a way-have you tried rendering objects seperately with alpha channels and compositing in photoshop? that's how I always do it.
FlaminGlow
05-20-2006, 02:54 PM
thank you friends.
Shakes, thank you mate i tried to delete all the plants and keep the others where same thing happened i will check if i can do it as you suggested.:)
hi buddy, I have a lot of trouble with render too, crash and memory stuf, but I find a way,[don't know if it's aplicable for you but you may try],
i split the scene in more pieces [in diferent files]and I only leave the things around my objesct [example: the fat door, I let only walls and floor [and all lights of course] for GI and made them invizible to camera [I'm working with max], the door stiil recieve causticcs from ather objects but that objects doesn'r render so less cpu need it. and so on with every character and stuff from my scene. then you can put togheter in a software like photoshop.
I lost a lot of time and make a lot of mistakes because of tehical and unknown things which I really don't know :(... till now.
[I am a newbie in all this 3d tehnical and nontehnical stuff but I try to learn :)]
hoping you're find a way to do it,
BAM
ps: if you don't understend because of may wierd english just tell me, i'll try to explain better
FlaminGlow
05-20-2006, 10:10 PM
Hi -BAM-, your notices and shakes's were more than usefull i tried both and i've seen where my processing work go to and most of it was going in (hair and fur effect) which i used to generate the grass, so when i deleted the hairs i've saved so much of my processing job so i started to smile then i found out that your way in rendering parts of image rather than all of it will give the advantage of:
1- good and clean renders.
2- fast and time saving.
3- more chances for new and addons compositing objects and effects.
so the problem is half way solved, i rendered image and will post it shortly. :)

very well done, congrats on finishing your image bro. I like your lighting -the bluish color realy looks nice here- i think this technique of lighting called Kicker except yours doesn't have glow effect that comes out of objects when light hits them, i only have one critique though, the dust on your ground plane is almost invisible i recommend you fix this in the few days comming. :) .
good luck.

Splotch, Thank you, the lighting technique is exactly as you said except the glow effect where this image lacks due to its cartoony subject where glow will add more dream like and dramatic illusion, and about the dust i added / realy it is not clear enough but i'm sorry to say i'm not planning to fix it. :)
makaron, hi Mona it is so nice from you to drop into my thread a nice words, thanx.

Hey Mohammed, great work on putting the whole image together, you've done an excellent job! I really like the atmosphere that you have built up around the two characters and Mark's anxiety really shows through. :applause: Best of luck in the judging!
