Hey,

Is it possible to Network Render Vray with my current PC ( WinXP SP2 ) and a Linux PC ( Ubuntu ). I don't know much about network rendering, but does the renderer have to be installed on the other PC's aswell? Or does it just use the extra CPU from the LinuxPC?

If it has to be installed on the other PC, then there's no hope as vray doesn't run on Linux :(

Thanks,

That's pretty much it right there.

The rendering engine (software) needs to be on all nodes. for these reasons:

1) So companies can make us pay for per node software license.

2) If code could be arbitrarily executed on remote machines without the software having been on the target computer, well that would be a big evolution is virus writing and the world would be a scary place.
